Back to Junior State of America

Happy new year!

Hello:

On behalf of the Junior State of America and the Junior Statesmen Foundation, I wish you a very happy and prosperous new year. We hope every day brings all you wish for.

In addition, 2009 brings something auspicious- the 75th anniversary of the Junior Statesmen of America! Seventy-five years ago, in 1934, Professor Ernest Andrew Rogers and his students of the Montezuma Mountain School for Boys started the first chapter of the Junior Statesmen of America in Los Gatos, California. Dealing with an uncertain democracy and an unsure future for the United States, these students bonded together to strengthen American democracy through active learning.

Now, we have grown to over 12,000 members and 500 chapters around the nation. While the problems and culture of the day may be very different than it was in the 1930s, we hold the same mission: to strengthen American democracy and empower ourselves, the youth, with tools necessary so we may succeed. With a new Presidential administration beginning their journey very soon, let us continue ours.

Once again, have a happy new year, and if you ever may need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you.
