The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
I would like to invite you to make hope a reality.
Diabetes affects close to 24 million American men, women and children and kills one of them every three minutes. A diagnosis of diabetes means a lifetime dependency on insulin, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Our mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is making its mark by moving closer toward the cure for diabetes and its complications. The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of JDRF had a very successful fundraising year, raising more than $900,000 at our 2009 Rainbow Gala. With your help, we plan to surpass last year’s Gala revenue and keep the vital research moving forward. All gala proceeds go toward finding a cure for diabetes and at JDRF, more than 80 percent of expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
Plans are well underway for our 18th Annual Rainbow Gala with Gregory B. Jordan, Global Managing Partner of Reed Smith LLP, leading our efforts as this year’s Gala Honoree. Help us reach our goal to make the evening even more spectacular than in the past. This inspiring event will be held at the Hilton Pittsburgh on April 24, 2010. Our procurement committee strives to assemble a diverse and enticing array of live and silent auction items to ensure the success of the evening. Our auction’s success is largely dependent upon your support and participation. In return for your generosity, you will receive prominent recognition at the auction as well as in the 18th Annual Rainbow Gala Auction Journal.
We are sure that like most people, you are very busy, so the following two steps were designed to make the donation process less time-consuming for you:
1. Completely fill out the “Procurement Form,” which gives us all the specific details of the item(s) you wish to donate.
2. Submit the “Procurement Form” and items as soon as possible and no later than Friday, March 19, 2010. You can mail us the item or fax the “Procurement Form” to 412-471-1417.
If you have any questions, please contact Sandie Spear at the JDRF office at 412-471-1414 x13. Thank you in advance for your generosity. For individuals with diabetes, their hope is for a cure… and that cure will only happen through research. Together, we will be known as the people who provided hope and cured diabetes.
