In the 20th century, the Canadian Indian residential school system was intended
to assimilate the children of the Aboriginal peoples in Canada into European-Canadian society. The purpose of the schools, which separated children from their families, has also been described as cultural genocide or "kill the Indian in the child. Dickason, Olive Patricia (1997). Canada's First Nations: A History of Founding Peoples from Earliest Times (second ed.). Toronto: Oxford
University Press. p. 309. ISBN 0-19-541358-X.

Obviously they didn't kill the Indian because we're still here, we're still a kicking somewhat battered, bruised and shaken but 500+ years of colonization, being marginalized, abused and the theft our native lands will do that to you. We were put here thousands of years ago by the Great Spirit to be the keepers of Mother Earth and we did a damn good job of it until the real heathens and savages came along and plundered everything for their own personal greed. No! We're not dead, our spirit and the spirit of our ancestors will not allow that to happen.
