People with disabilities have had a great influence on laws that protect their civil rights. The American's with Disabilities Act(ADA), an anti-discrimination act introduced to Congress in 1988, is one example. The act was revised and negotiated several times. Frustration grew among people with disabilities who organized demonstrations. The most famous captured by Tom Olin of people with disabilities crawling up the US Capitol steps in March of 1990. By May the House passed the ADA and George Bush signed it into law on July 26, 1990.
