Wildlife officials in Yaounde, over the weekend, arrested three suspected wildlife traffickers and their two accomplices. The suspects were found in possession of consignments of African grey parrots that were tightly stuffed into 3 crates made of wood, close to the Nsimalen International Airport, following a full investigation into the activity of the suspects. The crates of parrots were found aboard a car bearing a military number plate and it was later discovered that the car was used as a cover for illegally transporting the parrots. It was equally revealed that the car was not supposed to have a military number plate, highlighting the meticulous strategies put by traffickers to escape detection. The operation was carried out with the collaboration of the forces of law and order and with the technical assistance of LAGA.
