Cameroon wildlife officials arrest two chimp dealers

Cameroon wildlife officials have arrested two chimpanzee dealers in the North West Region of the country during a crackdown operation that saw the participation of the judicial police in Bamenda, the regional capital. One of the traffickers had travelled from a neighbouring town with the chimpanzee that was carried in a bag put into a carton. They were about to sell the frail looking young chimpanzee when wildlife officials swiftly arrived the scene and arrested the two. The animal that was found in very bad physical condition is expected to undergo thorough examination and later re-introduced into a chimpanzee sanctuary.
