Four ivory traffickers arrested within one hour in Douala


Two operations carried out in quick succession last June 21, 2013 by wildlife officials in Cameroon’s economic capital Douala led to the arrest of four notorious wildlife traffickers. In the first operation, two men, aged 36 and 40 years old, were trying to sell raw and carved ivory in Akwa, Douala when they were arrested. 16 ivory tusks and numerous carved ivory items were found in their possession. A few hours later, two other traffickers, who were found in possession of 16 ivory artifacts destined for the international market, were arrested
