With 7 out of every 10 parolees sent back to prison for violating their parole, county supervisors Tuesday approved using a $1.5 million state grant to launch a specialized court aimed at keeping low-level criminals on the straight and narrow and out of overcrowded prisons. Re-entry Court, as it is dubbed, is an intervention program designed to provide certain parolees with substance abuse treatment, job training, literacy training and close monitoring.
