Back to Basic Rights Oregon

Block anti-LGBT politicians from taking office with Basic Rights Oregon!

This year, newly registered voters will turn out in record numbers to vote for President. But will those voters move LGBT rights forward in Oregon, or will they bring our work to a halt until 2010?

This year in Oregon, we have the opportunity to take out some of the most anti-LGBT elected officials Oregon has to offer.

We can defeat former Eugene mayor Jim Torrey, a career politician who watered down Eugene’s nondiscrimination ordinance, excluding transgender Oregonians from critical protections. And we can replace Rep. Karen Minnis, who single-handedly delayed domestic partnerships and nondiscrimination for over two years, with fair-minded upstart Nick Kahl.

But with just 7 days left, the clock is ticking for pro-LGBT candidates in Oregon. These crucial races could be decided by as little as 200 votes—and just three hours in the next week can ensure a victory for LGBT rights on election day!

In Portland, contact [email protected] or respond to this message to get involved.
In Eugene, Corvallis and Salem, contact [email protected]rights.org to get involved.
In Southern Oregon, contact [email protected] to get involved.
Plus, scroll down to check out a limited schedule of volunteer events in Portland and Eugene.

This week, we can take out the most right-wing politicians in Oregon. Join Basic Rights Oregon in the next 7 days to make sure that voters turn out in these crucial state and local races—and that LGBT rights can continue to move forward in Oregon!
