At the moment, legless and armless troops suffer the indignity of taking a half-hour bus ride to a local pool in Leatherhead, which they must share with the public.
1. BRITONS are today urged to dig deep in their pockets and repay a massive debt of gratitude to the nation’s forces heroes.
2. In the last year alone, British troops have suffered their worst casualty figures in a generation. Between October 1, 2006, and September 30 this year, 93 servicemen and women were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
3. There were more forces deaths this year alone than in any other year since 1982 Five times as many have been injured.
4. For many of those survivors, the suffering will continue for as long as they live. Dozens have had their lives changed for ever, losing sight, hearing, organs or limbs.
