About

Our mission: To increase the self-esteem and unleash the creative voices of children facing life challenges by uniting them with professional artists to create original theater.

What is A Reason For Theatre: San Diego?
"A replication of New York City’s 52nd Street Project, which has been working with kids in that city’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood since 1981. We team the kids up with adult theater artists and together they create original theater."

Our mission: To increase the self-esteem and unleash the creative voices of children facing adversary by uniting them with ARTS Volunteers to create original theater.

"Since January 2004, The Manton Avenue Project (also a replica of 52nd Street) has been working with children from Olneyville, an economically-challenged neighborhood in Providence. It is a neighborhood whose children have very limited, if any, opportunities to creatively express themselves."
~ It's done so well on the East Coast (my home) lets make it a great success for ARTS: A Reason to Survive!!!!

1. "Everyone has a story in their heart, hence they have a play just waiting to be written." ~Jenny Peek

2. We use the theater to give each child a feeling of success and increased self-worth.

3. Working to put creativity back into our kids’ lives.
