The Universal Declaration of Human Rights celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2008. 60 years on the definition of what constitutes human rights has changed. Human rights are universal, inclusive but each person has their own perspective on what human rights mean to them. They are economic, social, cultural, civil AND political. However, the USA still hasn't ratified of economic, cultural and social rights Conventions while China does not respect civil and political rights. Two super powers at extremes. So, what are human rights 60 years on? And how does this understanding affect global issues today like Poverty, Climate Change and Corporate Accountability?
