Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) have been trying to ensure that no one ever again suffers through the ravages of nuclear war. They are sharing in their own voices their first-hand experiences.

Add your voice!

Join the “Poetry for Peace” contest and make our planet safer for you, your children and grandchildren by advocating for a world free of nuclear weapons.

WHAT
A poetry contest to share your thoughts and feelings about
the hibakusha testimonies.

HOW
1. Listen to a hibakusha story.

2. Join the contest by writing a poem with your reflections on the testimonies. To participate, go to: http://www.un.org/disarmament/special/poetryforpeace/.

3. Results. The top THREE winners will be selected among those with most “likes” by a panel of judges from the United Nations and the Japanese Government.

WHEN
From 15 September to 14 October 2011. Winners will be announced during Disarmament Week in October.
