Back to Support the Hope Vale-Pelican project

Sailing North today...

Dear All,

Pelican1 is heading North out of Cairns today. It feels wonderful to finally be on Sea Country in this part of the world. The seas are calm and glassy with a slight swell.

Pelican is provisioned for six weeks of work as we are also engaging with other Cape communities this year. GBRMPA (Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority) is running a series of On Sea Country meetings with Lockhart, Coen, Stony Creek and Archer Point mobs. We will also be working with the Lockhart school and hope to do some Digital Story Telling during each engagement.

The Hope Vale Pelican project is coming together. This year we will have the Weavers, Digital Story, Medical students from Queensland Uni, Turtle Tagging, Marine rangers and more. The Hope Vale community is organising the beach camp and events on shore from Cape Flattery.

I hope to share some of the stories from the project over the next 6 weeks.

Thank you all for your support and interest in this program as we sail into our 6th year.

All the Best,
