Invisible Lives Opening June 18th in DUMBO

"Invisible Lives" is a book and photo show project presenting the work of acclaimed photographers whose work raises awareness of one of the world's least known humanitarian disasters. The ongoing civil war in Burma has fueled the rise of one of the world's most repressive regimes and driven more than two million people into Thailand and neighboring countries. The images of "Invisible Lives" brings the hidden worlds of these refugees and illegal migrants into the open, highlighting their humanity and shared experiences.

"Invisible Lives" features photographs by Tom Soddart, Morgan Hagar, Becky Herwitz, and amateur Burmese and Karen photographers. Proceeds from the Invisible Lives book sale will fund reproductive health education for adolescents living along the Thai/Burma border.

Images on display from June 16-29 at powerHouse Books in DUMBO.

Sponsored by Burma Borders Projects, Global Justice Center, Ibis Reproductive Health, and the Women's Refugee Commission.
