Save Saimaa Ringed seal

Lisätietoa Saimaannorpasta Suomen Luonnonsuojeluliiton webbisivuilla:

DONATIONS through this link so that they reach the seals ;-)

Save the rare animal species, one of which is Saimaannorppa i.e. Saimaa Ringed Seal

More information also in:

ONLY about ~260 left in this planet!

Biggest reason for the possible disappearance of this nice animal is that baby seals are 'accidently' drowning in the fishing nets! People fish fish, not seals, but sad sad story.

What can people do? No money needed! STOP net-fishing during the Spring time as baby seals leave their mothers.

Professional fishers have agreed not to practice their profession with fishing nets in spring time.

For amateur fishers it is voluntary to stop the fishing, not mandatory. Some want to do 'net-fishing' - to get their regular pikes etc. This endangeres the population and the small baby-seals life (kuutti).

Finnish government and it's Agriculture minister refuses to make a legal ban for the fishing in spring time. Saimaannorppa-specialists and nature photographers, who are studying the rare animal are opposing. Seems to be so that countryside-party Centre plays their Europarliament election game with the local voters with the cost of baby-seals' lifes - who knows this is speculation.

20.000 FINNS in facebook are in favour of this, if you are not Finnish, please join this cause anyway. Saimaannorppa is the only endemic mammal in Finland!

1. Amatöörikalastajat lopettakoot verkkokalastuksen keväisin saimaannorpan emojen vieroittaessa/vieroitettua kuutit

2. Ammattikalastajat jo suostuivat tähän, miksi amatöörit eivät seuraa perässä

3. Laji on uhanalainen, ihan aidosti ja esiintyy vain saimaalla, herätkää suomalaiset! Saimaa Ringed seal has only a population of ~260 - wake up world!

4. Legal BAN to netfishing in spring time to save the baby-Saimaa Ringed seals ('kuutti')

5. Professional fishers agreed this, why we cannot get amateurfishing banned in Springtime?
