To fund the world's most progressive research aimed at finding a cure or a long-term beneficial treatment for CF
"Burke's Tour" is a global campaign to fund CF research to either cure or find a long-term treatment for CF. "Burke's Tour" was begun by Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis, Inc. (PACFI -- see www.pacfi.org) in 1998 and the teddy bear, Burke P. Bear (named after Burke P. Derr who died due to CF in 1997), has toured 44 states, 2 Canadian provinces, and 18 world countries to raise over $400,000 for CF research projects. We are seeking donations and fundraisers to help our cause, and proceeds from purchases of Burke P. Bear and the "Burke's Tour" book also benefit CF research.
1. CF is the most common fatal genetic disease of children and young adults
2. Finding a cure or long term treatment for CF can benefit treatments for other genetic diseases.
3. CF takes a life every 24 hours
