About

Create vibrant emotional connections with rescued native wildlife through intimate educational programs including, science, art, music, film; stirring people to help protect habitat.

Named after a passionate earth-mother wolf with a fire in her belly to protect anything vulnerable, Earthfire was founded in 2000 to develop a new model of relating to nature through the voices of the rescued wildlife under its care. A 40 acre wildlife sanctuary and retreat center, it is located on the western slope of Grand Teton National Park, near Driggs, Idaho.

Mission

Earthfire creates the opportunity for life-changing interaction between humans and wildlife. We provide a home for animals that are not capable of living in the wild, and a safe place for humans to meet them. These encounters create a deep transformative sense of the connection between us and the larger community of life. This is the Earthfire Experience.

Our unique model of ecological advocacy begins with a personal awakening and leads to a renewed commitment to protect the planetary systems on which all life depends. Grounded in the language of the heart, leading to a visceral understanding that life connects us, the Earthfire Experience creates both inward and outward change. Visitors at the sanctuary and online become ambassadors for a new way to relate to nature. Our work holds the potential to fundamentally change the way we think and act towards the environment and all living beings, enriching us, enlarging our sense of community, and leading to a more sustainable future.

Earthfire’s work resonates with the venerable traditions of Buddhism, deep ecology and integrative thinkers such as Goethe.
