About

For CFS to be well understood, diagnosable, curable and preventable.

The CFIDS Association of America is intensifying efforts to build a critical mass of rigorous research that validates the biological basis for CFS and leads to improved methods for diagnosis and treatment. We’re putting research first to achieve the vision of a future in which the life-altering disability, stigma and isolation of CFS no longer exist.

Since our founding in 1987, the Association has attracted support for research, policy and education programs totaling $37 million, most of it generously donated by patients and their loved ones. More than $5 million of that has been invested in CFS research.

Our Mission:
For CFS to be widely understood, diagnosable, curable and preventable.

Our Strategy:
To stimulate research aimed at the
early detection, objective diagnosis and effective treatment of CFS through
expanded public, private and commercial investment.

Our Core Values:
To lead with integrity, innovation and purpose.

The CFIDS Association of America is the world’s largest organization dedicated to making chronic fatigue syndrome widely understood, diagnosable, curable and preventable. We are grateful to all those who support our vital work.

1. CFS affects at least one million Americans and millions more worldwide.

2. It has a severely disabling impact on those who have it and those who love them.

3. In spite of 25 years of research and 5,000 medical journal articles, there is not yet a diagnostic test or a widely effective therapy.
