To enhance the overall well-being of children, as well as adults, with a wide range of disabilities, disorders, medical conditions or physical injuries through equine-assisted programs.
Founded in 1977, NCTRC is one of the oldest therapeutic riding programs in North Carolina. NCTRC seeks to enhance the overall well-being of children, as well as adults with a wide range of disabilities, disorders, medical conditions, or physical injuries. These challenges include, but are not limited to, autism, ADHD, sensory integration disorder, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, fibromyalgia, traumatic brain injuries, stroke, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, mental health issues, developmental delays, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and paraplegia. Evidence is growing of the impact horses have on children, and in the opinion of our therapist, two hours of therapy on a horse is equal to one hour of physical therapy in a traditional therapeutic setting.
