The Summer Hope Foundation is a federally recognized non-profit organization, which seeks to support those affected by cancer. Summer Hope is 100% volunteer driven, and is run by an extended network of friends and family, who all have been touched by cancer in various ways.
At Summer Hope, we realize that for a person touched by cancer, Hope is sometimes all that will get you through the day. Hope to see another Holiday season with your family. Hope that tomorrow will be easier than today. Hope that the pain of losing someone you loved to cancer will be eased by the simplicity of a crackling fire and a house full of relatives. Summer Hope is in the business of providing those small moments of Hope for those affected by cancer.
It is because of your support that we are able to send HOPE Packages to recently diagnosed patients battling cancer, and maybe provide them with a momentary reprieve from the pain, worry and sadness of cancer. We are able to give students an opportunity to write essays about how cancer has affected their lives for A Mother’s Gift Scholarship, and maybe give them an opportunity to express their feelings about cancer, in a way that would have otherwise not been available to them. We are able to collect DVDs, Art Supplies and Children’s Books for local pediatric cancer centers, to make the days go by a little quicker, not only for children battling cancer, but also their siblings for whom the hospital waiting room has become a second home. We are able to support the American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Cold Spring Harbor Labs and other research centers working hard to find a cure for cancer.
We don’t pretend to hold the answers, but we are in the business of providing a smile when it is desperately needed, a reassurance of tomorrow when it seems too distant and a small guiding light of hope when darkness is all encompassing.
