Cancer Schmancer wants to see every woman with cancer diagnosed early enough to thrive!
There are wonderful, dedicated people out there and billions of dollars being spent to find a cure for cancer. But until there’s a cure, we can save lives NOW through early detection.
The difference in five-year survival rates for cancer diagnosed in stage one versus stage four is staggering. 80% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer find out in the late stages, and 70% of them will die. But if a women with ovarian cancer is diagnosed in Stage 1, she has a 92% chance of achieving that coveted five-year survival mark.
Remember - on the day the doctor tells you that you have cancer, he goes home to eat dinner with his family while you go home to eat your heart out with yours!
We need to take control of our bodies, become greater partners with our physicians and galvanize as one to flip the switch on cancer by focusing on prevention and early detection!
1. EDUCATION: Did you know that 1 in 3 women will get cancer? Did you know that many cancers can be detected early? We teach women how to do that.
2. SOCIAL REFORM: Most women are too scared to listen to their bodies or ask questions of their doctors. We're helping women overcome that.
3. POLICY REFORM: Not enough funding goes toward educating the masses or getting important cancer screening tools insured. We lobby to fix that.
