Night Rides in the JRPS

We have great news! Greg Rollins, our vice-president and advocacy director, has secured permission for weekly night rides in the James River Park System. The rides will start this Thursday, November 5th, at 6:00pm and continue every Thursday through the fall and winter until the start of Daylight Saving Time in 2010. Night rides will not be held during holiday weeks and any ride cancellations will be posted on our website at

The rides will be limited to ten riders and high intensity night lights are recommended. Because of the technical terrain, two lights are recommended unless you are an exceptional rider or you know the JRPS trails well. Please do not show up with hiking lights or flashlights attached to the helmet or handlebar. Before you ask, yes, we have seen this.

Due to the generosity of Patrick Burns from Motion Momentum and Chip Akins from Pibby's Bicycle Repair, several sets of night lights have been donated to the club for member use. These lights will be available on a first come first served basis. Please give two days notice if you will need to use the lights.

You must me an RAMORE member to join these rides. If you are not a member we invite you to join at

We are excited to bring this night riding opportunity to the Richmond Area mountain bike community. Please join us this Thursday for our inaugural ride. We look forward to seeing you there.

Happy Trails!
