My name is Isabelle Ouimette (pronounced 'wemet'), and I am the new president for the Boston chapter. Some of you may already know me, having met online. Others met our family in person. Regardless on how we met, our families hold our relationship close to our heart.
I am honored to continue this chapter of Boston, together with Amy Napolitano, our chapter's secretary, and Maureen Silva, our chapter's Treasurer. I remember starting this journey feeling very alone in February 2008. Together, we hope to be able to make a difference and be there for one another as we travel a similar journey. We also hope to raise CHD awareness in our own communities and help It's My Heart to reach awareness at a national level.
My journey with CHD began when my little one was diagnosed at 6 months gestation in February 2008. At a regular ultrasound, my OB/GYN found that his heart was enlarged. That day I knew my life would be changed forever...
My son's name is Andre and he is a few days away from turning 22 months old. His diagnosis is critical pulmonary stenosis, dysplastic tricuspid valve, and an enlarged right atrium. You can read his heart story here:
As an ongoing form of communication for announcements about meetings, fundraisers, etc.., I will only be using emails. To ensure you are included, please send us in an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can add your email address to our email list.
For now, I'll include the first meeting announcement here.
