Voices for Education and Congressman Raul Grijalva for a discussion on the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind (ESEA) on Tuesday, August 27 at 5:30PM at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E Speedway. Bring a friend. Feel free to share this information.
In July, the House of Representatives passed HR5 which among other things would cap funding for reducing class size and "privatize" programs currently administered by public schools and the Department of Education.
Congressman Raul Grijalva sits on the US House Education and Workforce committee. He says, "This bill rolls back forty-five years of progress in giving disadvantaged and low-income children a good education. If we expect American students to succeed, in this country or in the global economy, our first priority has to be adequately funding their education. Instead, this bill makes almost gleefully destructive cuts in education funding and shifts taxpayer dollars to private entities."
