Dear Breast Friends,
First off, let me say how surprised and happy we are about all the support this cause has gained! Over 100,000 members and still growing. How amazing! I never would have dreamed of reaching this many people with my cause but you all have been so wonderful in recruiting others to join us. I cannot express how deeply this has touched and encouraged me. I want to thank each and every one of you for helping us fight for a cure!
This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. This will be my 3rd year to participate. The first year was with my best friend Tamarra Ann Christian. She was a daughter, a mother of three, a nurse, my best friend, and a 3 year survivor of stage 4 Breast Cancer with Mets. She went to heaven just three days after we completed the walk (her 3rd annual walk) in Noveber of 2008. She never gave up the fight for a cure. Now that she is gone I will carry on in her footsteps.... Because Everyone Deserves A Lifetime.
I will walk 60 miles over the course of three days along with thousands of other women and men to raise money for the fight. Net proceeds from the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ are invested in community-based breast health programs and breast cancer research. The research funded focuses on decreasing breast cancer incidence and mortality in the next decade.
I've agreed to raise at least $2,300 in donations. I've set my personal goal at $4,600 because I really want my mother to be able to walk with me again this year so I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation of at least $25.00 to help me in this cause? If that is too much, any amount will be fine but with only 184 people donating $25.00, I will make my goal.
I am going to try something new this year! I know that not everyone can or desires to walk 60 miles over 3 days but everyone has been touched by cancer in some way. So this year I am going to represent your loved ones on my 3 day journey!
With a donation of $50.00 I will take a picture and a short story of your loved one and make a 5x7 double sided "IN MEMORY OF" or "IN HONOR OF" photo tribute. I will carry this on my back for 60 miles. If you desire I will mail it back to you after I have completed my 3 day/60 mile journey to end cancer. Warning: There is a good chance it will have sweat, tears and tons of finger prints covering it. Hundreds maybe thousands of people will want to see why I am walking.

Without a cure, one person will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes in the United States. That's why I'm walking so far. We have to do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Emily Mason (your breast friend)
