Back to NO STRIKE - SAG

Blessings for a STRIKE FREE 2009

I wanted to wish everyone a prosperous, peaceful & joyous New Year. I wanted to thank all of you for your dedicated support to my/our cause to keep Hollywood Filming in 2009!

This will continue to be an uphill battle, we are far from being out of the woods. There are staunch supporters on the other side of this issue, all with valid and reasonable points. Some of them have questioned our right to take this position claiming we are crippling SAG's stand against the producers by asking them to vote no on a strike referendum.

If I had an OUNCE of trust in Alan Rosenberg and his cronies to not abandon the negotiation table at the first sign of resistance from AMPTP, I would have no problem with a YES vote from SAG members for the strike referendum. I fear that with a threat of strike in his arsenal he will simply throw up his nose to reason and stamp his feet like a 3 year old until we are all curled up in cardboard boxes on Skid Row!!

One impassioned SAG member recently told me that I had no right having an opinion on this subject because I did not appear on IMDb and {gasp} I did not have a "Star Meter" rating. I can not express enough that this isn't simply about SAG and those of us IN the entertainment industry, this affects absolutely EVERYONE who lives and works in an area that hosts TV/Film Production. I have a 51 year old brother who lost his job in the wholesale district in Downtown L.A. after 25 years of loyal service as an indirect result of the WGA strike, he has been unemployed for 11 months. Southern California economy lost billions of dollars during the Writers Strike, can you grasp the amount of loss we will suffer if SAG were to strike?!?!?!? Production continued during WGA strike, just did so without new scripts or re-writes. Without Actors everything shuts down!! Since June '08 Feature Film projects have become more & more scarce, almost to a point that we could consider ourselves in a de-facto strike today.

I don't claim to have all the answers, I just know that I/We can not weather another strike inevitably shutting down ALL TV/Film Production in SoCal and many other states across the Country!!!

Thanks for reading, and if you actually made it this far without bailing you can do one more good deed:
