Advocate for the rights of marginalized women in our society. Sacred Circle Farm's will provide animal rescue services & sanctuary for women overcoming multiple barriers.
Sacred Circle Farm will be a recovery house for marginalized women overcoming multiple barriers with the goal being to develop healthy life skills and reintegrate back into mainstream life. Members of our community will actively advocate for the rights & social inclusion of marginalized women.
At present, the farm is struggling to develop as a small horse & animal rescue. Sacred Circle Farm is located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It’s nestled in a quiet valley near the ocean within a rural community just outside of Sooke.
In May 2008, Sacred Circle Farm received its first official horse rescue. Bindijo hesitantly stepped off the trailer frightened & anxious with a strong urge to challenge anyone who approached him. He had a long history of cruelty & neglect at the hands of others so he was unwilling to trust people.
Although he still bares the physical scars from violent handling, he is now calm, happy & thriving in his new home. Bindijo is usually the first one to greet people who visit the farm. He oftens sticks his head inside cars to say an equine version of hello & tends to follow newcomers around like an overgrown puppy.
However, the abuse & neglect from past owners has impacted him deeply so it appears he’ll never be adoptable. It has been decided that he will be allowed to live out his life at Sacred Circle Farm as a therapy horse assisting others in times of need.
Although Sacred Circle Farm intends to open its doors in the near future as a recovery house for women, the high costs of building materials & lack of experienced volunteers impede the progress of renovations needed prior to opening. Therefore, Sacred Circle Farm is reaching out to the community for assistance in this area.
There is a dire need within our community for Sacred Circle Farm's services. Sadly though, I have had to turn away women in need & other rescue horses because the farm is not yet ready. It is my hope to complete the rescue facilities & renovations in the very near future.
Women qualifying for residency at Sacred Circle Farm will be able to live on the farm for a nominal room & board fee. During that time period, they will be compassionately supported in learning healthy lifestyle choices & developing basic agricultural skills.
It is hoped that the women & animal rescues of Sacred Circle Farm will work together for mutual benefit. In addition, other animals already residing at the farm will provide purpose & pet therapy for the residents. When possible, fully rehabilitated animals will be adopted out to qualifying homes for a fee to assist with the expenses of the ongoing efforts of Sacred Circle Farm.
Sacred Circle Farm plans to raise ethically produced food products in hope of subsidizing its food budget & any surplus will be made available to marginalized communities.
The possibility of a cottage industry is also being explored. We will keep the community updated as this plan develops.
Please take a moment to visit Sacred Circle Farm's cause site & witness for yourself the work being done on the farm. Afterwards, consider joining the cause & perhaps invite some of your friends to do so also.
With your support, a difference can be made in the lives of women living at risk within our society, horses desperately needing rescue & other animals suffering from abuse or neglect.
A famous poet, Kahlil Gibran, once said, "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." I hope you will share in my vision.
Thank you. I wish you enough.
