Raise funds for the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition
The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) transmits the Mahayana Buddhist tradition and values worldwide through Tibetan Buddhist teachings, meditation, community service, retreat centers, and projects that preserve the tradition.
FPMT is based on the Gelugpa tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa of Tibet as taught by our founder, Lama Thubten Yeshe and spiritual director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the lineage teacher of this tradition.
The FPMT has a list of charitable projects such as
The Amdo Eye Center
Education Scholarship Fund - supporting those on the path to become dharma teachers, translators and meditators,
Tsum - taking care of a monastery and nunnery in the remote northern border of Nepal close to Tibet,
The Sera Je Food Fund - aiming to provide 3 nutritious meals a day to 2600 monks in Sera Je Monastery in South India
and most notably,
The Maitreya Project (www.maitreyaproject.org) whose purpose is to bring as much benefit as possible, for as long as possible - spiritually, in education and healthcare, and economically, through the direct and indirect creation of employment opportunities.
