Back to Support Trey Love

Part 2 Long Overdue

After Christmas we had to head up to NYC for a full set of scans. Yes, ugggg….At the time I hated NYC. All I could think about was the last time we were there and what Trey had to endure. I felt like I had a brief love affair with NYC and it was over now and I didn’t want to go back. Well, the city won my heart once again. Trey’s scans were clean! Some very generous people asked us if we wanted to see the famous Times Square ball up close the eve before NYE. It was amazing. So beautiful! While we were up there we met a very kind and loving man who offered us a room at the Renaissance Hotel for NYE. (It’s the hotel to be if you are someone on that night). We thought we were just going to be able to have fantastic seats for the night but we were wrong. The night was priceless and we were surrounded by ball gowns and tuxedos in our Trey Love sweatshirts. But as a friend said that night “clothes don’t make the people.” We brought in the New Year in total style due to a very generous and loving man’s heart. We were with the elite of the elite right in Times Square. We were able to watch the ball up close and personal and make some lifelong friends that evening. To our New York family, thank you:)

I made a New Year’s resolution this year from a quote:
“Do the things you used to talk about doing and never did. Know when to let go and when to hold on tight. Stop rushing. Don’t be intimidated to say it like it is. Stop apologizing all of the time. Learn to say no, so your yes has some oomph. Spend times with friends who lift you up and cut loose the ones who bring you down. Stop giving your power away. Be more concerned with being interested than being interesting. Be old enough to enjoy your freedom and young enough to enjoy it. Finally know who you are.” Kristin Armstrong

During the last 6 months Trey has been in school, horseback riding, doing physical, occupational and speech therapy and taking tae-kwon-do. Trey graduated from preschool this year and yes with a girlfriend! They had a whole ceremony and everything….adorable!! You know what he said he wanted to be when he grew up? A super hero. Buddy you already are. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place when he said that. Trey now is an orange belt:) He also has been taking horseback riding lessons and is doing great. I used to ride and picked it back up in February (great stress reliever BTW) and now I get to go on trail rides with my son. I look at him in awe. My son is truly amazing. He has had to learn to talk, walk and reuse his right hand again. He has a million times more strength that I could ever imagine having. He is courageous, kind, loving, sweet and just plain awesome. He tells me at least once a day that I am the best mama in the whole world. Yup, even if he’s spoiled rotten, the kid is incredible. So far this summer we have been to the beach and camping for Trey’s first time. He also went fishing for the first time and caught his first fish!! This week he’s in camp!! I love when he can just be a kid.
