The 2010 Trees for Troops season kicked off on November 10 with the first international tree shipment leaving Columbus, Ohio and heading overseas to troops in Afghanistan. The second international shipment left Indianapolis, Indiana on November 30 to head to Bahrain and aboard the Navy's 5th Fleet.
Over 16,000 real Christmas trees will be donated this year and shipped via FedEx Freight to over 50 U.S. military installations from California to New York. Trees are being donated by farms from 29 states and will be delivered to every military installation: Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the National Guard. U.S. tree deliveries begin December 1 and continue through December 10.
Anyone at home can get involved with Trees for Troops this year by visiting one of the 40+ farms and retail lots who are participating in Trees for Troops Weekend, December 3-5. Visit one of these farms where you can purchase a tree and place it on a FedEx trailer to be shipped to a U.S. military family.
