The American Red Cross in GNY, led by volunteers, is a humanitarian organization dedicated to providing relief to victims of disasters. During life’s emergencies, the Red Cross is always there.

ARC/GNY serves 9 million New Yorkers in all 5 boroughs and 4 Lower Hudson Counties.

The ARC/GNY responds to more than 3,000 local disasters every year. That means eight times per day the Red Cross provides food, shelter and other important services to New Yorkers in need.

Every year, we provide 250,000 New Yorkers the training they need to help in a crisis. This includes CPR/AED, First Aid, Aquatics, Care giving and Preparedness Education.

Through partnerships with important agencies, like OEM, the NYPD and NYFD, the Red Cross of Greater New York provides vital assistance in times of crisis.

We desperately need 10,000 trained volunteers. Hitting this goal will allow the ARC/GNY to manage up to 100 shelters over a 5-day period in case a major disaster hits our city.

Our humanitarian mission is consistent with the Red Cross’ Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross movement.

1. When disaster strikes in any form, the ARC/GNY provides the help New York needs.

2. Every year, more than 100,000 New Yorkers rely on the food, shelter, first aid, financial assistance and mental health the ARC/GNY provides.

3. Make sure your family is Red Cross Ready: Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Informed, Be Involved.
