The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is focused on "providing leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations."

The UNEP was founded in 1972 in Nairobi, Kenya, and that is where its official headquarters are. The UNEP has six regional offices around the globe.
