World Kashmir Students Association (WKSA) is organizing a protest under its Free Kashmir Campaign (FKC) to protest the scores of human rights violations by Indian troops in Kashmir, a UN recognized disputed territory.
700,000 Indian Armed forces occupy the Kashmir Valley, making it the MOST dense military concentration in a civilian area in contemporary global history. International Human Rights organizations have estimated that the Indian Occupational Forces have brutally murdered around 70,000 innocent Kashmiris since the last two decades. There have been scores of mass-rapes, arsons and extra judicial executions.
The Indian right-wing fanatic Hindu nationalists recently launched an economic blockade of Kashmir to starve its unarmed and oppressed population into permanent subjugation and silence. The blockade has deprived muslim-majority Kashmir of essential food and medical supplies.
Forced with starvation and economic depravation, Kashmiris decided to walk towards the LOC (Line of Control) that separates Kashmir into Indian Occupied and Pakistan Administered parts. While 700,000 Kashmiris were marching towards Muzaffarabad, the Indian forces opened fire on unarmed protesters, martyring 30 innocent marchers including one of their tallest leaders, Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
This protest is to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and ask the International Community to take note of India's record in Kashmir.
