Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, animal research, and in vivo testing, is the use of non-human animals in experiments that seek to control the variables that affect the behaviour or biological system under study. In these practices animals do feel pain. There are at least 115 million cases of animal testing worldwide each year. Testing is like torture to animals. We should stop testing on animals because there is no need to hurt poor animals when there are other alternatives.

Animal testing a serious matter. Many innocent animals are dying in horrific, cruel and inhumane ways just so beauty products can be released into the market. There is brutal torture involved in animal testing, from severing limbs to injecting animals with cancer and many other diseases. Animals are also force fed and left without painkillers after they have been tested on. Companies like Dove are heavily invested in animal testing and it’s just sadistic and cruel. It’s important we stop animal testing because animals of all types are being killed and animals are an important part of our society.

Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the human infliction of suffering or harm upon any non-human animal for purposes other than self-defence or survival. More narrowly it can be the causing of harm or suffering for specific gain. Animal testing is animal cruelty. Laws concerning animal cruelty are designed to prevent inhumane treatment of animals. Yet animal testing is legal in most countries. There are many countries that condone animal testing around the world. England comes in 1st for being the worst country for animal testing. Even places you wouldn’t think would be involved, like Australia (ranked 5), are ranked in the top 10 countries for animal testing.

Here are some brands that we all know worldwide that are heavily involved in testing products on animals:

  • Air Wick
  • Ajax
  • Avon
  • Band-Aid
  • Bobbi Brown
  • Bonjela
  • Braun
  • Chap Stick
  • Clean & Clear
  • Cover Girl
  • Colgate

It just sickens you to your core when you think that you have used some of these products and innocent animals were tortured and killed to bring them to you. Furthermore, it is not just products that are tested on animals. More than six million animals are used annually in research and testing in Australia and New Zealand. Many of those animals are subjected to severe pain and stress during the experimental procedure or as a result of the environment in which they are kept prior to and/or after the procedures.

Animal testing is not even needed. The Harvard Wyss institute has created “organs on chips” that contain human cells grown in a state of the art system to mimic the structure functions to human organs and organ systems. These chips can be used instead of animals in disease research, drug testing and toxicity testing. Why don’t companies use technology that cannot be hurt instead of animals, who can and do feel pain?

There are many organisations that are trying to help stop animal testing by spreading the word of what’s going on in these cruel labs poor animals are suffering. Some organisations, like the RSPCA and PETA, have been battling animal testing for many years.

Change is needed because animals are being tortured and killed. They are being treated inhumanely and being slaughtered after suffering many years of abuse and torture. The animals being tested on range from mice to apes and when they are killed there little lifeless bodies get tossed into a bin; there is no respect for the living creatures at all.

We need to look into the companies that are invested into animal testing and not buy their products. They can’t keep up the testing if they lose profit what should make us feel the most sick is it’s not necessary to test on animals there are computer options. A computer that doesn’t feel pain would be more effective than testing on animals anyway. Please support this campaign and don’t purchase products that have been involved in animal testing.
