Presumptive Illness Of Cholangiocarcinoma Or Bile Duct Cancer For Vietnam Veterans

My dad was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma on Jan. 3rd and died 11 weeks later. He was a Phantom (F-4) pilot and flew two tours in Vietnam. He did survival training deep in the Southeast Asia swamps. Until age 73, he was one of the healthiest men I knew. He retired from teaching public school with hundreds of unused sick days. He had never been on a prescription drug. Yet this cancerous tumor took his life so quickly. And it was not an easy way to go. Bleeding, fever due to infections, abnormal weight loss, bouts of severe pain. Please help us put this illness on the presumptive illness list. It will mean so much to protecting future military personnel and financially compensating (very modestly) surviving spouses who suddenly find themselves alone.

Presumptive Illness Of Cholangiocarcinoma Or Bile Duct Cancer For Vietnam Veterans

My husband, Alan Gatesman, died from this horrific form of cancer on January 10, 2003. Vietnam vets need to be aware of the dangers that still exist for them from this terrible war. Liver flukes found in the water in Vietnam live within the bile duct for decades and can change the DNA and become cancerous many years after their military service has ended. Please sign this petition to help our servicemen who have contracted this awful disease. Thank you!

Presumptive Illness Of Cholangiocarcinoma Or Bile Duct Cancer For Vietnam Veterans

I have been in the military for 27 years, I have known many Vietnam Veterans in my career. Not to long ago a very, very good friend, who was a veteran passed away from this. I worked for him at my first employment. I started at the company as a dishwasher and because of deep interest in me when I left the company I was an assistant manager. He was like the father that I never had, not just at work but at home as well. He taught me everything about people, foodservice and about life.
