Stop Stolen Seafood From Being Sold In The Us

I have seen a lot of "causes" and have been asked to sign many. After having been fortunate enough to have been many places in this world, it's not hard to see that the oceans are all some indigenous people of the world have to keep them alive. Not as just a traditional means, but to survive at all. Big multinational companies swoop in and drain the resources of many of the poor for profit. Cost of signing the petition, ZERO. Cost of people losing their only food source...

Illegal Fishing Puts Crab Populations at Risk | WWF The magnitude of illegal crab fishing puts the entire Bering Sea marine ecosystem at risk. These waters are shared by Russia and the United States (Alaska) and produce almost 200 million pounds of legally caught crab each year. “The US is likely importing large quantities of crab and other seafood which may have been illegally caught” said Michele Kuruc, WWF vice president of marine policy “The problem is the US is unable to say how much is illegal. We need a way to obtain and assess this information if we want to address this global illegal fishing problem.” This is why WWF is calling on the government to support new regulations for tracking seafood from plate to bait. “We need better port control and a transparent, international monitoring system of fishing activity and seafood trade. Otherwise, we may lose stocks of our most valuable species like crabs.” said Konstantin Zgurovsky, the head of the WWF-Russia marine program. Oceans are being overfished. This creates pollution in the oceans and an unbalanced home for the fish and coral! Nets, lines and hooks that get left behind inevitably wrap around the ocean wildlife and kill them....unfortunately VERY SLOWLY. Stolen Seafood creates an imbalance in the gathering and selling. This should be stopped before it gets out of hand for most of the fishermen. TY.

As as example : Could Shark attacks be blamed on the need for their own prey being denied them from people - like you and I, depleting their food by stealing from their natural habitats or allowing their habitats to be so badly affected by pollution or chemicals that they feel the need to look to other areas to feed? Therefore, are we sending normally non-aggressive sharks to our shores - could this be of our own neglect? Could it be that we ignore the obvious and allow over population of species that are aggressively taking over areas badly needed to keep our Eco-Systems in balance? Could unusual attacks be blamed on putting Toxins in the Ocean, or Genetically Modifying the food of sharks of their natural food sources or lack thereof??? We, as a nation, who rely a great deal on the oceans' creatures for food and survival have to help the oceans' habitats to be preserved naturally. We also need to keep our needs not only to taking care of as natural habitats, but also need to keep control of our own oceans being over or under populated by the creatures that we need as food sources, therefore we are interfering by not allowing nature to take care of us as people. By relying on stolen goods, we are destroying our own food sources either by allowing over population or depletion of animal life. Both are affected equally by neglect or demand. How about we STOP playing God and STOP allowing illegal activity to destroy what is left of our oceans' Natural Habitats by allowing our government to permit ocean food to be taken from other areas illegally, and allowing our own habitats to become unbalanced to the point of extinction.
