The Wild Coast is a magical unspoiled South African wilderness. The area is being threatened by a devastating potential mining project in the most fragile and pristine portion of the wilderness. This area is an internationally acclaimed biodiversity hotspot that contains approximately 2000 plant species (196 of which are endemic) and the area and would be in danger if development occurred.
An Australian company, MRC (Mineral Resource Commodities) has applied for a mining concession at Xolobeni, right in the heart of the wilderness, where they have allegedly discovered the world's 10th largest "heavy minerals" deposit in the red dune sands between Mkambati Nature Reserve in the South, up to the Mzamba River in the North. Sign the petition requesting that the South African Minerals and Energy Department block the MRC and fulfill its promise to protect our children's ecological heritage.
