"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." - Mother teresa
In spirit of Mother Teresa, I decided to make a life-changing move to Monrovia, Liberia to teach educate girls with an amazing organization called More Than Me (MTM).
So Why Liberia and MTM?
In Liberia, more than 40% of girls ages 10-14 have NEVER gone to school and often fall victim to the most reported crime in Liberia: rape.
Before the war in 1989, Liberia had over 2,400 schools and after 2003, have only 480 remaining. As a result, it is now host to some of the poorest slums in the world. MTM is working against these odds to get girls off the street and into school to ensure that education and opportunity, not exploitation and poverty defines their lives.
Not everyone gets the opportunity to come to Liberia to help, but if you're looking for a way to give, your donation could change lives.
Even the smallest donation brings us one step closer to making the MTM Academy become systematically sustainable, so that not only these girls, but also many more like them will all have the opportunity to learn, succeed and reach their dreams--things that EVERY child should have. Let's help these girls run the world!
