Can Engage is a community service project to support Machik in sending 5 Tibetan children living in Litang County, Sichuan, China, to high school.
Through this legacy project, we seek to
bring together Canadians of Chinese and Tibetan descent to engage in
constructive dialogue about the issues that divide these communities and about
Canada’s relationship to the Tibetan Plateau. We also seek to cultivate
positive relations between the two communities by exemplifying a spirit of
cooperation and friendship, and promoting unity through shared causes and
adherence to Canada’s humanitarian values.
We believe in the primacy of education and
the doors it opens to building knowledge and capacity. In helping to develop
further opportunities for education, training and engagement at the grassroots
level, we seek to advance the notions of global citizenship, sustainability, as
well as to build human connections.
