Duke Energy is the largest utility in the country and powers most of North Carolina.  The company owns 11 coal-fired power plants in North Carolina.  As coal is burned, and chemicals released into the air, ash is left behind.  That ash is often mixed with water and pumped into "ponds".  Many of the ponds are unlined, and chemicals can leach into the groundwater, creating a risk to human health.

These risks are unacceptable and we demand that Duke Energy clean up the mess that they have gotten us into.  Duke Energy must clean up all of their ash ponds in the state of North Carolina.
