Hi! As you know, my beautiful little 7-year-old daughter, Rylee and I have CMT, or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. CMT is a progressive disorder of the peripheral nerves, which causes muscle atrophy in the hands, arms, feet and legs. Drop foot, hammer toes, breathing difficulties, pain and scoliosis are all CMT-related symptoms. I have been very involved with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA) for 12 years through my local support group. But, seven years ago, when the doctor told me that Rylee had CMT, I wiped my tears away and I promised myself that I would become a vigilant advocate for raising awareness and funds for CMT. The CMTA's dedicated research initiative, STAR, or Strategy to Accelerate Research is on the verge of providing treatments to stop the progression of CMT. It holds hope and promise not only for my daughter, Rylee, but for many other individuals around the world who struggle daily with the devastating effects of this disorder. So, for my birthday this year, I'm asking my friends and family to donate $40 (or however much you can afford) to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association. My goal is to raise $2,000 over the next few weeks for the CMTA's STAR efforts. But, to achieve this goal, I desperately need your help. *All donations will be doubled through the $150,000 Warfield challenge. Please consider giving to my Birthday Wish, and together we can make the world a better place for Rylee and the hundreds of thousands of kids and adults living with this disabling condition. If you can't afford to donate, I'd really appreciate it if you'd share this message with your friends, asking them for their support. The Time Is Now!! With Love, Jeana I'm asking for $40, or as much as you can afford.
