Number 29 Georgian House Museum offers a unique opportunity to locals and tourists alike to see behind the multi- coloured doors to what life was like in Dublin 200 years ago. Guides share their knowledge and passion and guests leave the House enriched by the experience, ranking it 20th in TripAdvisor Dublin sites.
All that is about to end.
The ESB wanting to save approximately €200.000 from ‘non core activities’ have fired all the guides in the museum. The plan to keep the House open as an unguided site until numbers diminish so much they are ‘forced’ to close.
Sacrificing a heritage site in the altar of corporate greed should not be permitted, especially at a time when the company has had an extremely profitable year. Let us not give up on our history, our culture or our heritage and let us do this for the sake of our children’s education and our nation’s identity.
