Killing the Buddha publishes online and print literary works and offers cultural programming through public events about today’s living religions in relation to politics, arts, and culture.

Killing the Buddha (KtB for short), is an online magazine about religion, culture, and politics. When it was founded in 2000, The Utne Reader called it one of “15 sites that could shake the world" and we've been trying to do that ever since. CNN recently claimed that “Killing the Buddha makes religion interesting again.” The site has spawned two print anthologies, The Heretic's Bible (Free Press) and Believer, Beware (Beacon), with contributions from Rick Moody, Francine Prose, and many, many others.
