Operation Song – CAMMO, the Center for American Military Music Opportunities, is an innovative 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to further development and execution of music therapy programs that focus on service-related conditions such as PTSD and traumatic brain injury (TBI). CAMMO concentrates its efforts on providing quality music therapy services to restore, maintain, and improve the physical, emotional, psychological, and neurologic functioning of wounded active-duty service members and veterans through the systematic use of music. Operation Song is one of the programs provided by CAMMO. This therapeutic songwriting workshop connects veterans with professional songwriters and music therapists to help them learn and use the creative process to tell their stories about their military experiences and express their thoughts and emotions. Songwriting in a group can improve self-confidence, communication and problem solving skills, decrease a sense of social isolation, and improve coping skills.
