This center is a great place for children to learn about the different animals such as the gray wolf and about the way our ecosystem is connected. As a resident of North Carolina, I have visited the nature center many times and found that a whole day can be spent watching and learning about the center's many animals.

The Nature Center is inextricably linked to the community through memberships, an animal adoption program, and summer camps for youth. Their mission is to remain a community resource dedicated to people of all ages for learning and experience. The closure of this center would be detrimental to the community.

The state of North Carolina is currently considering a 5.7 million dollar budget cut to the city of Asheville. The Nature Center usually receives $450,000 dollars in city funding. Please sign this petition to make sure that the visitor center is removed from the chopping block despite the pending city budget cuts.
