According to the Bureau of Statistics, Obesity is a major contributor to the global burden of chronic disease and disability. Around the world, levels of childhood obesity have been rising for a number of reasons including the fact that children are eating more foods that are high in fat and sugars and spending less time on physical activity.

If we are to really reduce childhood obesity it has to start at home. My vision is to see Governments bring Health advisors to our schools to present a 'How to pack healthly school snacks' program. Also providing each new Prep student with a' welcome to school pack' that includes healthly snack / healthy body booklets and tips on packing a rubbish free lunchbox. Lets face it we are all packing more and more prepacked snack foods 'in the name of convenience' and unfortunately we are only adding to the problem.

With the Government's support and involvement in actively combating the problem, children can learn to pack healthy snacks that encourage nutritional education and better independent health for the future.

Many thanks :)
