We need to do more to help victims of sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is the use of force, fraud or coercion to cause a commercial sex act with an adult or causes a minor to commit a commercial sex act. I want to greatly increase the support that is provided for victims of sex trafficking to improve their abilities to recover from the trauma. Imagine yourself or someone you care about being stolen from a free life and sold off to the highest bidder to be abused and forced to perform disgusting tasks. Sex trafficking is a real issue and it is often young people who are sold off to the highest bidder and are forced to pleasure disgusting people. This causes serious damage to victims and we need better support for those who have been trafficked. With better support these victims will have a better likelihood to recover from the experience. Sex trafficking is a horrible issue which occurs all around the world, even in countries that you would never expect. Countries such as India have the largest number of individuals conducting human trafficking globally. Human trafficking was not technically made illegal in the UK until 2003. In 2012 there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking world-wide and this number is only growing. Change is desperately needed to improve the lives of victims that are fortunate enough to escape after being trafficked. First of all, human trafficking is a major violation of multiple articles of the universal declaration of human rights. Secondly, we need more organisations devoted to helping victims move on and recover from the experience of being trafficked. Lastly, trafficking needs to be stopped simply because it is such a large problem. Human trafficking is a violation of multiple articles of the universal declaration of human rights. The universal declaration of human rights is a document that outlines the basic human rights in which everyone on the planet is entitled to. Human trafficking violates many of these rights. Article 1: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Article 4: No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. After being subjected to this torture, victims start to look at things differently and will start acting different around others. We need more organisations devoted to helping victims move of and recover from trafficking. Victims of trafficking will often be branded or tattooed with barcodes or some form of identification and currently there is a group which offers free cover-up tattoos to victims of human trafficking who have had this done. Donna Hughes, from the University of Rhode Island says “If victims can escape, it is very difficult for them to adapt back into society and will often have both physical and mental reminders of the trauma they have undergone.” Human trafficking not only involves sex and labor, but people are also trafficked for organ harvesting. Victims will often be in pain or will have permanent disabilities after being trafficked, therefore it is important that more people can work together to help the victims recover. Human trafficking needs to be stopped as it is such a large problem. There are 20.9 Million victims of trafficking worldwide in 2012. Human trafficking affects adults as well as children and it affects both male and females, 59% Women, 14% Men, 17% Girls and 10% were Boys. As human trafficking is such a large problem which affects most of the human population, it is up to us to do everything we can to stop it. In order to help resolve this issue we need more people getting together to provide support for victims as well as if we can get more people exposing places that this is occurring at then it would be easier for this to be shut down. If we can reduce the amount of humans being trafficked and help the victims that are able to escape then as well as the world being a safer place for many people, especially for those in countries which have a higher rate of human trafficking. It is up to everyone to help and support these victims as human trafficking as it is a problem that affects most ages and genders. Please help me to help those in need.
