Children are our future because the world needs economic growth which these children provide at such a young age. Child labour is occurring every day, more than 200 million children today are child labourers. An estimated 120 million are engaged in hazardous work. Most children work on farms that produce consumer products such as cocoa, coffee, cotton, rubber and other crops. My goal is to improve the conditions for child workers, by giving them minimum wage and safer working conditions. Children are working in poor conditions for pitiful wages. Conditions need to reach an international minimum standard. Education is the best way for children to reduced poverty, It is estimated in Australia that 98% of kids who don’t work full time have a school based education.

Education is the best way out of poverty (Cleveland, 2014) reducing child work hours will create this balance. Education can change a child’s life and their view on things at this point of time around the world. Not even a quarter of these kids are getting a full time education. Creating this balance will let these children start learning which will help them gain employment and contribute positively to their family and nation’s economy. Groups like the Borgen project are campaigning for these children to have better health, economic growth and Empowers Women and Girls. Children of when they start work which is about 6 which is about 80% of children are doing 12+ hour’s days. Where is the time for schooling and education if these kids are working full time every day for minimum 8 hours a day. They have no time or effort/energy to start learning and education.

We are not eliminating child labor - while it is not good, it does serve an economic need in the third world. Present working conditions are appalling for anyone, let alone a child. We are reducing and minimizing the harm without creating new economic and social problems. Some of these kids are working in some of the poorest conditions. For example there’s kids dying from non-sufficient breaks. They are working on machines and hand tools with no PPE and if they get injured or sadly die the leaders don’t care. Giving these children breaks and food and water will help them work and have more energy to do stuff. The safety conditions they work in are very poor, they have accidents waiting to happen which can lead to fatal deaths and injuries. For example they have insufficient break times with no food to eat and no safety protection at all from using a machine to working in unsafe areas. More than 200 million children today are child labourers. An estimated 120 million are engaged in hazardous work.  They can’t expect these kids to work like adults with terrible breaks with no food and water.

As consumers we need to be making informed choices which support children and the developing world to make changes to improve their further. As the fortunate people compared to these undeveloped countries we need to start getting the word out and letting people know what’s going on. The more people finding out the better this world will be better. Exactly. It is also important for us to support companies which don’t use child labour, or require their suppliers to have minimum working conditions. If we change now, then children now and many years to come for decades and decades will most likely have a full time education and have a loving bond with their family. It is estimated in Australia that 98% of kids who don’t work full time have an education. Africa has the most kids under 18 working full time every day for minimum pay in terrible conditions, but the world knows that Africa is one of the most undeveloped continents this is why they have so many people working at a young age. But they don’t understand that some of these kids that are taken out of an education could be the one to change something in years to come if they had an education but their life is wasted on working full time 12+ hour days. It is estimated at the age of 6-16 children start developing as a child and their brain starts developing a lot faster. But these children are learning nothing and will struggle later in life. We need to do the most we can do help these poor kids. Even though we can’t stop child labor because these countries need it for their economic growth but we need to try to give these kids a prober work life with sufficient breaks with food and water.

Even though we can’t eliminate child labor while it is terrible thing that is happening, it does serve an economic need in the third world. Present working conditions are appalling for anyone, let alone a child. We are reducing and minimizing the harm without creating new economic and social problems. For this to be done we need to start caring for these children because they are our future. As consumers we need to be making informed choices which support children and the developing world to make changes to improve their future.
