The aim of this campaign is to permanently ban canned and sport hunting globally. Canned hunting is the act of paying to kill a specific animal that is caged in a kill zone with no way out, while sport hunting is the act of killing an animal for a trophy or the thrill of the kill and enjoyment.

Hunting is an unnecessary act that needs to be stopped. Although hunting was once a crucial part of human survival in the past, hunting has become nothing more than a violent recreation sport. More than 100 million animals are reported killed by hunters each year. This number does not include the millions of animals that go un-reported or the many animals that endure prolonged painful deaths. Hunting has contributed to the extinction of animal species all of the world like the Tasmanian tiger, which disrupts the ecosystem. Hunting also disrupts the natural ecosystem in another way as hunters only tend to want to kill the strongest of the species while natural predators go after the weak. It’s sad that there aren’t many laws against hunting, which is something we really need to introduce in our society as violence against animals can lead to violence against people.

The first point I would like to argue is that hunting causes pain and suffering to the animals, and is intolerable. In hunting it is rare to get a quick kill and many animals suffer prolonged, painful deaths when hunters injure but fail to kill them. Hunting also makes animals suffer by disrupting their natural migration, hibernation patterns and destroys family groups.

The second point that I would like to argue is that nature takes care of its own. Contrary to what hunters preach to us in defence of this cruel and sick sport. Hunting has nothing whatsoever to do with conservation or population control. In fact animals are especially bred and raised for the single purpose of being killed and used by the hunters will. The natural ecosystem ensures the survival of most species and is maintained by natural predators keep the balance by killing only the sickest and weakest of prey in order for the other species to produce better offspring. If hunting continues natures delicate balance will eventually crumble.
